The  English Language Arts Anchor Standards represent broad statements about the expectations for students in Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking and Language as they prepare for high school graduation, positioning them for potential success in either college or careers, or both. For each anchor standard, a series of expectations are outlined for students at all grade-levels. The English Language Arts Learning Standards outline what a student should know and be able to do independently by the end of each grade.
